Kitten down!

The last time that phrase was shouted was about a month ago, when the elder of our 2, 3 month old, furballs plummeted 18 feet from between second-floor banister rails, to the tile floor of our entryway.  After a quick trip to the ER vet (diagnosis:  broken nose), we were sent home, and spent the next several hours weaving beach towels through the railings to avoid future catastrophe.

Unfortunately, this time's utterance was permanent.  We lost dear Jewel (or "Yellow," or "the other kitty") earlier today, when her little heart gave out during spaying at the vet.  Our family's in shock, little Blue (the remaining kitten) most of all.  She's been mewing since she was brought home, in the heartbreaking way that only a confused, saddened kitten can.

Life comes and goes.  Today a beloved little kitten was returned to dust.

This blog is intended to chronicle my attempt at juggling being a midnight writer, a full-time professional, wife, and mom of 2 girls.  While I'll likely focus on writing, sometimes, like today, life will certainly intervene.
